The Stingers are back…and they’re stronger than ever!!

In the early 80’s a group was formed to help ensure continued success from all of the teams. The Stinger Foundation was created to help generate interest and revenues for Sacramento State athletic programs.

The Stingers are back in the form of the Stinger Athletic Association and their mission is the same – to build interest and revenue for all 20 athletic programs. The Stinger Athletic Association is dedicated to helping provide scholarship dollars for the student-athletes. The Stinger Athletic Association (SAA) replaces the Hornet Club as the fundraising arm of the athletic department. This volunteer driven group is supported by the university and is governed by an Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee provides guidance consistent with the goals and policies of Sacramento State, the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, conference affiliations, and the National Collegiate Athletics Association.

With tuition cost rising annually, the Stingers’ biggest challenge is funding scholarships while increasing general funds for the athletic department. The money raised by the Stingers’ goes directly to increasing the athletic department’s scholarship fund.
