Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week (Oct. 15-21)
Sophomore Cianna Andrews has been named the Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the Hornets to a pair of three-set home sweeps of Montana State and Montana. The two victories allowed the Hornets to improve their winning streak to five straight, and remain tied atop the Big Sky Conference standings. Andrews, who started both matches at rightside hitter, finished the week with averages of 2.67 kills, 1.50 blocks and 1.33 digs per set while also recording a .393 hitting percentage.
In Thursday’s four-set win against Montana State, the Bellflower, Calif., native had four blocks, seven kills, five digs and a .417 hitting percentage. In Saturday’s victory against Montana, Andrews finished with five blocks, nine kills, three digs and a .375 hitting percentage. Early in the second set, Andrews had blocks on three straight points to key a 6-0 Hornet run. She also had a kill at match point to deliver the Hornets their 30th straight regular season home win against conference competition.
