MITCHELL, YOUNGER LEAD CROSS COUNTRY AT BRONCO INVITATIONAL

SUNNYVALE, Calif. —Rachel Mitchell finished 13th to lead the women and Cole Younger had the top time for the men at the Bronco Invitational on Saturday at Baylands Regional Park.
Mitchell completed the 5K course in 17:30.7 and had the 10th fastest time among collegiate athletes. Veronica Stinnett ran 17:57.4 to place 44th overall while Lauren Mugnaini was 59th in 18:13.7.
The Sacramento State lineup was completed by Lora Marchini, Justine Rea and McKenzie Paul. Marchini finished 62nd (18:15.6), Rea 101st (18:32.2) and Paul 104th (18:34.9).
As a team, the Hornets finished in ninth place with 236 points. Long Beach State won the team title with 94 points, edging Portland (100) for the top spot. Idaho State (116), Idaho (126) and Cal Poly (133) completed the top five.
Idaho's Hannah Kiser posted the fastest time in the field, running 16:55.3.
In the men's 8K race, Younger ran 24:38.6 to place 32nd. Reesey Byers was second on the team with a time of 24:41.9 which placed him 41st. Zach Kaylor was 47th with a time of 24:57.8 and Benny Willers placed 79th in 25:25.2.
Mark Frazier (97th/25:45.5) and Steve Kutsch (149th/26:49.6) rounded out the finishers for Sacramento State.
Stanford and Cal Poly separated themselves from the rest of the field in the team standings. The Cardinal finished first with 38 points and had five of the top 11 collegiate finishers. The Mustangs were second with 77 points, led by two runners in the top four.
Sacramento State was ninth in the 19-team field with 252 points.
Chad Hall of UC Riverside finished just ahead of Cal Poly's Daniel Gonia to win the individual race. Hall ran 23:48.0 while Gonia crossed the line in 23:48.6.
The Hornets will next compete at the Big Sky Conference Championships in Pocatello, Idaho on Oct. 29.
