WOMEN FINISH THIRD AT SANTA CLARA BRONCO INVITATIONAL BEHIND BALANCED PERFORMANCE

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Led by six top 50 finishers, the Sacramento State women's cross country team finished third at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday at Baylands Regional Park.
The Hornets scored 163 points as a team and trailed only regionally ranked Long Beach State (60) and Big Sky foe Idaho State (151). Among the teams that finished behind Sacramento State in the 19-team field were UC Davis, Fresno State, New Mexico, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Boise State, and UCLA.
The Hornets were paced by Renisha Robinson who completed the 5K course in 17:40.4 to place 22nd overall. Lora Marchini was just over four seconds behind Robinson with a time of 17:44.5 to place 28th. Sophomore Rachel Mitchell crossed the line in 17:50.1 to place 37th and Erin Lewis ran 17:53.2 to finish 43rd. The final time that counted toward the team score came from freshman Lauren Mugnaini who ran 17:57.2 and placed 45th.
After a week off from competition, the Hornets will next compete at the Big Sky Championships in Spokane, Wash., on Oct. 30.
