WOMEN, MEN, HOLTZ AND GROSE ALL VICTORIOUS AT NEVADA CROSS COUNTRY MEET

RENO, Nev. — The Sacramento State women and men both finished first at the WAC Preview cross country meet on Saturday. Both teams also had the individual winner as Kristina Holtz and Scott Grose each claimed the top spot.
The Hornet women scored 31 points to finish just ahead of host Nevada which scored 35. Utah was third with 54. Holtz ran 20:05 to edge Nevada's Jordan Burke at the line. Renisha Robinson was second on the team and fifth overall in a time of 20:35.
Freshman Rachel Mitchell was two seconds behind Robinson and placed sixth. The team also had Caprice Bradshaw finish in the top 10 as she ran 20:39 to place eighth. Jenni Eiremo completed the lineup by finishing 11th in 20:55.
Grose ran 2:29 in the men's 8K race and was 11 seconds faster than the closest competitor. Chris Romo had the second fastest time by a collegiate athlete and was third oerall in 28:14.
Freshman Nathanie Litwiller was fifth in 29:15 and was immediately followed by Jason Sey (29:17) and Daniel Mitchell (29:23).
Sacramento State will next compete on Saturday, Oct. 17, when they travel to the Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif.
