SAN FRANCISCO — Colin Szehner and Kristina Holtz each finished in the top 10 to lead the Sacramento State men’s and women’s cross country teams, Friday afternoon at the San Francisco State Invitational.

Freshman Ashley Chavez was 40th overall in 24:24 while Kirsten Reed ran 24:45 to place 49th. Athena Gillen completed the lineup in 25:10 and was 55th.

“Most of our team used this race as a tune-up,” Sacramento State cross country coach Scott Abbott said. “Colin and Kristina both ran well and Danny and Mary each had good showings.”

Chico State was second in 41 while San Jose State (115), Creighton (119) and San Francisco State (121) completed the top five. The Hornets finished sixth overall with 129 points.
