WOMEN HAVE SIX TOP 10 FINISHES TO PLACE SECOND OVERALL; MEN FINISH THIRD BEHIND CARLSON

DAVIS, Calif. — The Sacramento State women had six top 10 finishers to place second overall at the Doc Adams Invitational, Saturday morning at UC Davis. The Hornet men finished third overall and were led by Danny Carlson, who finished sixth overall.
The women were paced by Caprice Bradshaw who ran 22:11.10 and was fourth overall. Sophomore Renisha Robinson clocked a time of 22:22.20 to place fifth. The pair was directly followed by Jodie Leal (22:29.60), Lora Marchini (22:30.60), Erin Wachter (22:38.00) and Erin Lewis (22:41.50). The foursome finished sixth through ninth, respectively.
As a team, the Hornet women scored 30 points to finish just three behind Stanford (30) for first place. Pacific was third with 83 points while Saint Mary’s finished fourth (92). The Cardinal accounted for the top three individual finishes led by Katie Niehaus’ time of 21:50.50.
Carlson was one of two top 10 finishers for the men’s team. The senior ran 25:36.40 while Chris Romo crossed the line in 25:39.00 to place eighth. Kyle Lackner had the third-best finish on the team in 26:08.90 to place 16th. The team also counted times from Myko Lucas (26:13.60) and Jason Sey (26:15.50). Lucas placed18th while Sey was 19th.
Stanford won the men’s team title with 51 points. UC Davis was second with 58 and the Hornets scored 64 to place third. The rest of the field was comprised of San Francisco (71), Saint Mary’s (136) and Santa Clara (142). Saint Mary’s Mario Mendoza finished first individually in a time of 25:05.50.
Sacramento State will next be in action on Friday, Oct. 10, when it travels to San Francisco for the Gator Invitational hosted by San Francisco State.
