KAYLOR, ROBINSON LEAD CROSS COUNTRY AT NCAA WEST REGIONAL

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Sacramento State men's and women's cross country teams completed their 2010 season at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday morning at the Springfield Country Club. The Hornet men finished 22nd while the women were 23rd.

The men's team was led by freshman Zach Kaylor who completed the 10K course in 31:35.06 to place 84th. Cole Younger was second on the team in 31:59.90 while Reesey Byers ran 32:18.09 to place 132nd. Chris Romo and Daniel Mitchell also contributed to the team score. Romo crossed the line in 32:44.34 to finish 144th while Mitchell was 148th in 32:46.30.

The Pac-10 Conference dominated the race with eight of the top 10 individuals and five of the top six teams hailing from the conference. Host Oregon totaled 63 points to edge Stanford (65) for the team title. Individually, Portland's Trevor Dunbar was first in 29:57.89.

The Hornet women were, once again, led by Renisha Robinson. The San Jose, Calif., native ran 21:52.68 over the 6K course to place 95th. The team's next four times all came within a minute of Robinson led by Breanna Lewis' 22:10.95 (120th). Lora Marchini was 125th in 22:17.44 and Lauren Muganini ran 22:24.62 to place 138th. The final time that counted toward the team score came from Rachel Mitchell who ran 22:31.10 to place 153rd.

Jordan Hasay of Oregon finished nearly five seconds ahead of the field, crpssing the line in 20:01.90. Despite Hasay's victory, Washington was able to claim the team title, finishing four points ahead of the Ducks (73-77).
