CHRIS ROMO NAMED BIG SKY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State junior Chris Romo has been selected as the Big Sky Conference Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The honor is the first for a Hornet this season and the first for Romo in his career.

At the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational, Romo ran 24:34.4 over the 8K course to place 12th overall in a highly-competitive field. The Roseville, Calif., native helped Sacramento State to a third-place finish, trailing only No. 13 BYU and regionally ranked UC Riverside.

Individually, Romo finished ahead of nine of BYU's student-athletes and was faster than all but on of UC Riverside's competitors.

Sacramento State will have this weekend off before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Nevada Chase Race in Reno, Nev.
