MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM EARNS NATIONAL ACADEMIC AWARD
3/8/2010
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's cross country team was recognized by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association as an all-academic team, it was announced today. To be honored by the USTFCCCA, a team must have scored at the NCAA Cross Country regionals and have an average gpa of 3.00 or better.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment in the class by our cross country team" Sacramento State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Kathleen Raske said. "Their hard work on course carried over to classroom where they represented our program's goals for complete student-atheltes."
The honor is the latest academic award given to the team. In January, Scott Grose, David Rabinowitz and Cameron Mitchell were each named to the Big Sky Conference all-academic team.
This marks the first time the Hornet men received the USTFCCCA honor. Last season, the Sacramento State women earned the same award.
