GROSE, ROBINSON AND HOLTZ EACH CRACK SCHOOL TOP 10 AT NCAA WEST REGIONAL

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Sacramento State senior Scott Grose led the Hornet men and junior Renisha Robinson paced the women at the NCAA Cross Country West Regional on Saturday at Springfield Country Club.
Grose ran the 10K course in 31:43.86 to place 37th overall in the highly-competitive field which included teams from the Pac-10, West Coast and Big West conferences. Grose's time ranked third in school history at the meet while his 37th place showing was the best by a Sacramento State runner since Hector Delgado was 21st in 1997.
Overall, the Hornets scored 574 points and finished 20th in the 26-team field. Stanford cruised the team title with 27 points. The Cardinal were followed in the top five by Portland (84), Oregon (109), Washington (120), Cal Poly (155) and Arizona State (155).
David Rabinowitz was second among Hornet runners by placing 134th in 33:56.61. Jason Sey was one spot back in 33:59.61 while Nathanael Litwiller finished 141st in 34:13.65. Daniel Mitchell (162nd/34:46.81), Kyle Lackner (167th/35:10.78) and Chris Romo (176th/35:53.42) completed the lineup for the team.
In the women's race, Robinson ran 22:28.52 over the 6K course to finish 66th. Her time and place each move her into seventh place in school history for results at the regional. Kristina Holtz was 78th overall with a time of 22:41.44. She also cracked the top 10 at Sacramento State by ranking ninth in each category.
Erin Lewis was just under 10 seconds behind Holtz in 89th place at 22:51.22. Caprice Bradshaw ran 23:18.54 to finish 123rd and Lea Wallace was 129th in 23:30.47. Rachel Mitchell (160th/24:13.12) and Mary O'Reilly (175th/24:50.66) also competed for Sacramento State.
Washington won the team championship with 25 points. Oregon was second with 66 followed by Stanford (94), Arizona State (119) and Arizona (202) in the top five.
The meet was the final event for the Hornet cross country teams in 2009.
