WOMEN FINISH FOURTH, MEN SIXTH AT BIG SKY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

GREELEY, Colo. — The Sacramento State women placed fourth and the men finished sixth at the 2009 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Northern Arizona won the team titles for both genders.

The Hornet women were led by junior Renisha Robinson who earned all-Big Sky honors by placing eighth in 20:02.80. Senior Kristina Holtz ranked second on the team and 16th overall in 20:29.25. Erin Lewis (20:52.00), Caprice Bradshaw (20:52.50) and Lea Wallace rounded out the scorers by placing 23rd, 24th and 28th, respectively.

Veronica Pohl of Northern Arizona won the individual title in a time of 19:04.70. Her time placed her just under 23 seconds ahead of teammate Kortnee Burton who was second.

The Lumberjacks scored 28 points as a team to easily top Weber State (64). The rest of the top five was comprised of Montana (66), Sacramento State (99) and Idaho State (120).

Senior Scott Grose led the men's team by running 26:30.71 to finish 14th. Fellow senior David Rabinowitz finished 35th in 27:35.36. He was followed by Chris Romo (27:50.01) and Nathanael LItwiller (28:03.91) who were 37th and 40th, respectively. Daniel Mitchell completed the scorers for the team by placing 44th in 28:29.51.

Northern Arizona had the top three finishers for the men led by David McNeill who ran 24:35.76.

NAU scored 19 points to win the team event. Montana State was second with 68 while Montana (76), Weber State (91) and Eastern Washington (144) rounded out the top five.

Sacramento State will next compete at the NCAA West Regional on Nov. 14.
