MEN TIE FOR FIFTH, WOMEN TIE FOR SEVENTH AT BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIPS

MISSOULA, Mont. —Scott Grose led the Hornet men and Renisha Robinson paced the women at the 2007 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the University of Montana Golf Course.
Northern Arizona won both team titles while the Sacramento State tied for fifth and the women tied for seventh.
Grose ran 25:54.0 to place 24th overall in the men’s 8K race. Jeffrey Paneda was one spot back in 25:54.8. Colin Szehner was 28th overall after running 26:05.9 and finished three spots ahead of Danny Carlson (26:11.6). Jason Sey was the final scorer for the men, running 26:19.9 to place 38th overall.
Robinson ran 18:57.1 to place 22nd. Her time was nearly 30 seconds faster than her closest teammate (Jodie Leal, 19:35.4, 38th). Lora Marchini had the third-fastest time on the team, running the 5K in 19:37.6 to place 40th. Mary Wagner was just three seconds behind Marchini (19:37.6) to place 41st overall. Junior Erin Wachter finished 49th overall in 20:00/7 to complete the scorers for the women.
Northern Arizona’s Lopez Lomong cruised to his second straight Big Sky men’s title. Lomong ran 23:51.2 to finish 33 seconds ahead of teammate David McNeill (24:04.3).
Weber State’s Sariah Long ran 17:13.9 to win the women’s title. She was followed by NAU’s Lesley Van Miert (17:38.2).
