VOGL FINISHES FIRST TO LEAD MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TO VICTORY AT NEVADA

RENO, Nev. --- Junior Dominic Vogl finished first to help lead the Sacramento State men's cross country team to victory at the Nevada Chase Race on Saturday at Bartley Ranch Park.

Vogl ran the 4-mile course in 22:30 and finished five seconds ahead of Boise State's Cody Eaton who was second. The Broncos also claimed third and fourth place but the Hornets notched the victory behind Colin Szehner (23:02), Jose Garcia (23:20), Daniel Carlson (23:41) and Jason Sey (24:04) who finished fifth through eighth, respectively. Their finishes gave Sacramento State a 27-30 win.

In the women's race, Nevada's Amanda Moreno finished first in 14:54 over 4,000 meters. Kristina Holtz ran 16:22 to finish 12th and pace the Hornets. Erin Wachter was second on the team, running 17:00 to place 18th.

The women's race featured four teams comprised of Nevada, Sacramento State, Boise State and Utah. The race was dual scored with the Hornets falling in each of their three matchups.

Sacramento State's next race will come on Sept. 16 as it hosts the Sacramento State Invitational at Granite Regional Park.
