WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FALLS JUST SHORT AT NEVADA CHASE RACE

Justine Rea had the fastest time among the Hornet runners at the Nevada Chase Race.

RENO, Nev. —
 Justine Rea and Chloe Berlioux each finished in the top five to lead the Sacramento State women's cross country team against Nevada on Friday at the Nevada Chase Race.

Competing in a rare dual meet, the Wolf Pack edged the Hornets, 23-32.

Rea completed the course in 23:38 to finish 41 seconds behind individual winner Samantha Diaz of Nevada. Berlioux ran 23:43 to finish just ahead of teammate Teresa Mallory (24:17) who was sixth.

Ashley Chavez placed eighth in 24:30 and Amanda Garcia was 10th with a time of 24:35.

Both the Sacramento State men's and women's cross country teams will next compete at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Oct. 13. The meet will mark the first time that both teams have competed at the same site since the Hornet Jamboree on Sept. 8.
