MEN FINISH EIGHTH, WOMEN 10TH AT BIG SKY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

OGDEN, Utah — The Sacramento State men's cross country team placed eighth and the women's team finished in 10th place at the Big Sky Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Riverside Golf Club.

Elijah Changco and Ryan Salcido each placed in the top 40 to lead the Hornet met. Changco ran 25:50.9 to finish in 33rd and record the fastest time on the team. Salcido was close behind in 38th place after running 25:58.2

Sacramento State's next three finishers all cross the line within 30 seconds of each other. Aidan Schraer finished third on the team and was 52nd overall with a time of 26:22.9. Tyler Sickler ran 26:49.5 to finish in 63rd and Tre Lockwood completed the scorers by finishing in 66th in 26:52.9.

Amy Quinones continued to lead the Hornet women. Quinones, who has had the fastest time on the team in every meet dating back to last season, ran 18:12.1 to finish in 26th place.

Senior Gracie Albano was 21 seconds behind Quinones and finished 42nd overall in 42nd in 18:33.1. Freshman Cagnei Duncan ranked third on the team with a time of 19:24.8 to place 66th. Amelia Pear was one spot back in 19:28.7 and Savanna Perez capped the scorers by running 19:33.7 to place 70th.

Northern Arizona won both team titles. The NAU women started the day by scoring 51 points and win the race by 32 points. Paige Gilchrist pulled away from the field to win the individual title by nearly 11 seconds. Gilchrist ran 17:12.1 while teammate Mikayla Malaspina placed third in 17:32.1.

The Lumberjack men had the top three individual finishers led by Tyler Day (23.21.0). That trio helped the team score 24 points to edge Southern Utah (36) for the top spot.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Doc Adams Challenge in Davis, Calif., on Nov. 4. The team will then head to the NCAA West Regional in Seattle on Nov. 10.
