MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY CLOSES SEASON AT NCAA WEST REGIONAL

SEATTLE — The Sacramento State women's and men's cross country teams wrapped up their seasons in familiar fashion with Chloe Berlioux and Jacob Huston leading the way at the NCAA West Regional on Friday at Jefferson Golf Course. Berlioux finished 40th overall and the women were 23rd in the team standings. The Hornet men were 28th and were led by Huston who finished in 135th place.

Oregon and Boise State earned the automatic berths to the NCAA Championships in the women's 6K race. The Ducks tallied 79 points to finish one point ahead of BSU. In the men's 10K race, Washington scored 63 points and was 20 points ahead of Stanford to win the team title.

Berlioux ran 21:26.4 to lead the Hornets by nearly a minute. The senior led the team in all but one meet in which she appeared this year. Her time at the NCAA West Regional placed her just over a minute behind Boise State's Allie Ostrander who won the race in 20:10.9. Waverly Neer of Oregon was second in 20:32.2.

The Hornet women had seven competitors in the meet. Senior Amanda Garcia ranked second on the team and was 108th overall in 22:22.4. Junior Haley Heinemann ran 22:51.4 to place 143rd. Sophomore Gracie Albano placed 164th in 23:09.0 and senior Lizette Gonzalez completed the scorers by running 23:16.2 to place 174th.

Sacramento State counted the time of all five of its runners in the race. Huston closed his career by, once again, leading the men with a time of 33:58.7 to finish 135th. Sophomore Sam Scheuer had the second best time among the Hornets in 34:31.2 to finish in 158th. Ryan Salcido ran 34:52.1 and crossed the line in 168th. Christian Gonzalez (35:00.7) and Edwardo Vasquez (35:54.0) completed the lineup by finishing 173rd and 190th, respectively.
