SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State will host the NCAA Inter-Regional Jamboree on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course. The meet consists of two total races designated for the men's and women's teams. The men's 8K run will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the women will follow up with a 5K at 10:30 a.m.
Teams that are regionally and nationally ranked will be competing on Friday. Five of the 14 participating men's teams are ranked regionally - including UCLA, which is ranked #12 in the nation. Seven of the 19 competing women's teams are also ranked regionally - including Sacramento State, which is ranked 15th in the West Region, and San Francisco which is ranked 24th in the nation. The Sacramento State women's team is returning after placing second at the Stanford Invite, while the men's team placed seventh at the previous meet.
Regardless of rank, the Arcade Creek Golf Course will be new territory for all participants, as it is the first time the location will be used for a cross country event. Friday's meet will serve as a West Regional preview, which takes place on Nov. 15, and will act as a "points accumulator" for teams who strive to compete in the national meet. The flat and well-maintained course consists of an outer and inner horseshoe layout, which will make for a spectator-friendly meet.
Admission for spectators is free, while parking will cost $5 for visitors.
