SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State will host the annual Hornet Jamboree cross country meet on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Granite Regional Park. The meet will consist of seven races ranging from 2-4 miles an including participants from high school, college and post collegiate.

The day will begin at 7:45 with the 2-mile combined high school race. The boys freshman/sophomore race and girls freshman/sophomore race will follow. The 5K varsity boys high school race will start at 9:15 and girls varsity will immediately follow.

The collegiate competition will get under way with the women's 5K at 10:15 a.m. The men's 4-mile race will start at 10:45. Both collegiate races will also include open competitors.

This year's collegiate field includes Sacramento State, Cal State Monterey Bay, Oregon Tech and Dominican in both the men's and women's races. Sonoma State and Pacific will also enter teams in the women's race.

The Hornet men have won the team title three times dating back to 2007, including last season. Reesey Byers had the fastest time in the men's race last season, completing the course in 19:42.3. Fresno State and California tied for the women's title. The Bulldogs' Lundsie Etherton was the indidivudal winner in 17:13.7.
