MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RANKED 12TH IN PRESEASON WEST REGION POLL

NEW ORLEANS — The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association ranked the Sacramento State men's cross country team 12th in the preseason West Region poll, it was announced today.

Portland, of the West Coast Conference, earned the top spot in the rankings. The Pilots were followed by Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, California, Washington State, Arizona State and Arizona of the Pac-12 Conference.

Sacramento State was the only Big Sky school ranked among the top 15 in the West Region.

The Hornets return nearly every member from last season's team which finished fifth at the Big Sky Championships and will add senior Chris Romo, who redshirted a year ago. Last season, the team was led by either Reesey Byers, Cole Younger and Mark Frazier in all eight meets.

Sacramento State opens the season on Aug.31 at the Aggie Open in Davis, Calif.
