BYERS LEADS MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY AT PAC-12 PREVIEW

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Behind three top 40 finishes, the Sacramento State men's cross country team finished in fifth place at the Pac-12 Preview on Friday at Robinson Ranch Golf Course.

Junior Reesey Byers finished in 20th place to lead the team, crossing the 8K line in 25:26. Domenic D'Acquisto was 33rd after running 25:55 and Chris Romo placed 34th in 25:57. Sacramento State also counted a 40th-place finish from Daniel Mitchell (26:12) and a 41st-place showing from Mark Frazier (26:19).

As a team, the Hornets finished in fifth place with a total of 150 points. Fellow Big Sky Conference school Northern Arizona claimed the team title with 23 points. Host UCLA was second with 58 while Cal Poly finished fourth with 87. Clemson (172) and Long Beach State (210) rounded out the field.

Sacramento State will next compete on Sept. 29 at a pair of meets. The men's team will compete at the Dellinger Invitational in Eugene, Ore., while the women will race at the Stanford Invitational.
