10/16/2003

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior Lisa Beauchene tallied her seventh triple-double of the season and sophomore Shannon Arts had 10 kills and a career-high .529 hitting percentage to lead Sacramento State to a 3-0 (30-19, 30-17, 30-24) victory over Weber State in a Big Sky Conference volleyball match Thursday evening at the Hornets Nest.

With the victory, Sacramento State won for the ninth time in the last 11 matches while improving to 14-8 overall and 5-1 in the Big Sky. The Hornets have now won 30-consecutive regular-season matches against conference competition inside the Hornets Nest. Weber State dropped to 5-12 and 2-4 in the conference.

Beauchene’s triple-double comprised 10 kills, 40 assists, 13 digs, one solo block and a match-high .692 hitting percentage. Beauchene’s 10th kill accounted for the final point of the match. Arts’ 10 kills matched her season high, set earlier in the season against Illinois State. She had 10 kills with just one error in 17 total attacks.

Senior Kazmiera Imrie rounded out the Hornet threesome with double figures in kills, tallying 10 to go along with a .471 hitting percentage. Including Beauchene, Arts and Imrie, junior Emily Wilson (eight kills, .467) and freshman Shannon Roland (three kills, .400) also hit .400 or better for the Hornets.

Sacramento State’s team hitting percentage of .352 was a season high as the team tallied just 15 errors in 122 total attacks. In the Hornets’ most convincing victory of the season, Sacramento State dominated in nearly every statistical category including kills (58-34), assists (52-32), hitting percentage (.352-.150), aces (5-2) and digs (54-43).

Junior Sandra Bandimere narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine kills and 10 digs. Freshman Kristin Lutes had 10 digs to round out the Hornets in double-figure digs.

The match was played in just one hour, 23 minutes, marking the shortest match of the season for the Hornets.

Weber State was paced by Kris Hollingsworth’s 10 kills and .350 hitting percentage while Stacy White had a team-best 12 digs. The Wildcats had seven team blocks, including five from Lyndsay Harris.

Sacramento State returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 18, as the team welcomes Idaho State into the Hornets Nest at 7 p.m. After the Idaho State match, the Hornets have just two more home contests on their regular-season schedule (Nov. 6 vs. Portland State and Nov. 8 vs. Eastern Washington). Sacramento State lost to Eastern Washington this past Sunday in Cheney, Wash.
