SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Jayme Wright led all players with 21 kills while sophomore Sandra Bandimere (13) and junior Kazmiera Imrie (10) also tallied double figures in kills to lead Sacramento State to a 3-2 (30-26, 20-30, 30-26, 26-30, 15-13) victory over Northern Arizona in a Big Sky Conference volleyball match Friday evening in Hornet Gym.

The Hornets, who won the match despite hitting just .143, improved to 18-9 overall and 8-2 in the Big Sky. Sacramento State has now won 24-consecutive regular season matches against conference competition at home. Northern Arizona dropped its third in a row while falling to 8-14 overall and 4-6 in the Big Sky.

Northern Arizona held the advantage over Sacramento State in kills (74-63), hitting percentage (.203-.143) and digs (82-81), but the Hornets recorded a season-high 17.0 team blocks while the Lumberjacks committed 12 service errors. Sacramento State did not hit better than .179 in any game during the contest and had just two players (with at least five kills) hit above .200.

Wright’s 21 kills also came with 16 digs as the senior has now recorded a double-double in three-straight matches. Four Hornets tallied double figures in digs led by junior Ali Mathewson’s career-high 18. Junior Lisa Beauchene (16) and freshman Mallory Hook (15) also recorded double-figure digs.

Northern Arizona’s Claire Robertson notched a triple-double (15 kills, 39 assists, 13 digs) while Ellie Butterfield (16 kills), Corrie Machesky (15 kills), Rebecca Wooden (10 kills) and Chelsea Robb (match-high 31 digs) also chipped in for the Lumberjacks.

Four Hornets had at least four blocks, led by Imrie (eight) and sophomore Emily Wilson (seven).

With the score tied at 12-12 in the fifth game, the Hornets ran off the next two points on a pair of errors by Northern Arizona. After a Machesky kill drew the Lumberjacks to within one point of the Hornet lead (14-13), Wright ended things with a kill.

Sacramento State’s 35 errors in the match was the most the team has recorded all season. The time of match (2:18) was the longest of the season for the Hornets as the team is now 5-1 in five-game matches.

The Hornets remain in second place, one game back of Eastern Washington (9-1) as the Eagles defeated Portland State, 3-2, at home tonight. Only four Big Sky matches remain on the schedule as Sacramento State seeks its sixth-consecutive regular-season conference championship.

Sacramento State has three matches remaining on the homestand as the team takes on Saint Mary’s (Nov. 5), Montana (Nov. 7) and Montana State (Nov. 9) next week in Hornet Gym.

NOTES -- Beauchene hit -.056 in the match, marking just the third time all season the setter has hit below .200...Wilson’s seven blocks was one shy of her career high (eight), set earlier this season at San Jose State...Sacramento State is now 9-0 all-time against Northern Arizona in Hornet Gym...since taking over as the team’s libero on Sept. 25, Hook has tallied double-figure digs eight times.
