VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS MONTANA STATE, TAKES OVER SECOND PLACE IN BIG SKY STANDINGS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior Tasman Dwyer led all players with 13 kills and sophomore Kazmiera Imrie chipped in 11 kills as Sacramento State defeated Montana State, 3-0 (30-20, 30-26, 30-25), in a Big Sky volleyball match Friday evening in Hornet Gym.

With the victory, Sacramento State improved to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the Big Sky. Additionally, the Hornets took over sole possession of second place in the conference standings and have now won 12-straight Big Sky matches at home. With the loss, Montana State, which had been tied for first place, dropped to 12-2 and 3-2 in the conference.

Hornet sophomore Lisa Beauchene fell two kills short of her fourth triple-double of the season as the setter finished with eight kills (including a .583 hitting percentage), 37 assists and 18 digs. Beauchene was one of three Hornets to record hitting percentages above .400 as Imrie (.444) and Dwyer (.435) also accomplished the feat.

Sacramento State hit .222 for the match and held Montana State to a .102 hitting percentage as the Hornets also led the Bobcats in kills (52-32), assists (45-32), digs (57-50) and aces (6-2).

Montana State was led by Aimee Halyk’s team-high 11 kills while Anne Watts chipped in nine kills and 12 digs.

Weber State defeated Eastern Washington, 3-1, to take over sole possession of first place in the Big Sky standings as the top three teams now go as follows: Weber State (4-1), Sacramento State (3-1) and Montana State (3-2).

Sacramento State has now won eight of its last 11 matches and is 3-0 at home this season.

The Hornets wrap up their three-game homestand tomorrow, Oct. 6, against Montana at 4 p.m.
