CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The Sacramento State volleyball team lost in five games to both San Jose State and host Oregon State in the final day of the Oregon State Showcase Saturday at Gill Coliseum.

The Hornets opened the day by falling to San Jose State, 3-2 (25-30, 24-30, 30-24, 30-27, 15-9) before losing to Oregon State, 3-2 (30-25, 30-13, 23-30, 24-30, 15-11). With Sacramento State's victory over Southern Illinois yesterday, the Hornets finished the tournament with a 1-2 record. Senior Tasman Dwyer was named to the all-tournament team after tallying 41 kills, 11 blocks and a .240 hitting percentage in three matches.

In the morning match, the San Jose State foursome of Brianna Blair (22), Kimberly Noble (21), Stephanie Pascucci (17) and Liz Hudson (16) combined for 76 of the Spartans' 84 kills. San Jose State hit .217 for the match and outdug the Hornets, 99-94. Sacramento State held a large advantage in team blocks (16.0-7.0) but hit .202 for the match, including .160 in the decisive fifth game.

Later in the day, Sacramento State clawed its way back from a 2-0 deficit to force a game five. However, Oregon State hit .579 (13-2-19) in the fifth game and won, 15-11, despite the Hornets committing just one error in the frame (6-1-17).

Five Beavers recorded double-figures in kills led by Gina Schmidt's 21 and Katrina Nelson's 16. Oregon State hit .333, .457 and .579 in games one, two and five respectively. The Beavers outdug Sacramento State, 98-77, while holding the Hornets to a season-low .134 hitting percentage.

Dwyer again led the Hornets in digs (12) while Beauchene recorded her fourth career triple-double (11 kills, 38 assists and a team-high 22 digs).

Sacramento State returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 5, as the team plays its home opener against UC Davis at 7 p.m., at Hornet Gym.
