2011 Season
Appeared in 30 matches, including 23 starts at rightside hitter…battled a knee injury the majority of the season…did not play the final two regular season matches because of the injury…played in 110 sets…averaged 2.32 kills, 0.96 blocks and 2.87 points per set…against conference competition, her 0.98 blocks per set were the ninth best mark in the Big Sky…recorded 10 matches with double figures in kills, including career highs in both kills (21) and hitting percentage (.567) at home against Northern Arizona…recorded double digits in kills in three straight matches over a 5-day stretch, comprised of 15 at San Jose State, 11 vs. Portland State and 10 vs. Eastern Washington…named Big Sky Player of the Week on Oct. 10…an all-tournament selection at the Belmont Invitational…had a career-high nine blocks against both Georgetown and Saint Mary’s.
2010 Season
Appeared in 29 matches as a freshman, including 22 starts as the team’s rightside hitter…averaged 2.30 kills, 0.45 digs and 0.68 blocks per set while hitting .216…the hitting percentage was the best mark among the team’s regulars…had 253 kills with 119 errors in 619 attacks…among team leaders, she was third in attacks and kills, and fourth in points (2.69 pps) and blocks…the Hornets were 7-4 when Beal tallied double digits in kills…became the first Sacramento State freshman to earn Big Sky Conference Player of the Week honors (Oct. 4) since Lisa Beauchene accomplished the feat in 2000…named to the Sacramento State Invitational all-tournament team…had a season-high 20 kills at home vs. Idaho State…had at least three blocks in 17 matches…increased her numbers to 2.61 kills and 0.79 blocks per set against conference competition.
High School
A 2010 graduate of Dixon High School in Dixon, Calif…played four years of volleyball, and ran two years of track…in volleyball, she was a two-time team captain and three-time all-Capital Valley Conference selection (first team as a junior and senior, honorable mention as a sophomore)…named the conference MVP as a senior after posting a league-best 4.8 kills per set and ranking fifth in the conference with 3.3 digs per set…the kills were the fifth most in the Sac-Joaquin Section and she guided the Rams to a 19-11 overall finish and a second-place league record of 12-2…also led the conference in kills as a junior with 3.9 per set and was tied for fourth in digs (2.4 per set)…as a sophomore, she ranked first in the league in aces and second in blocks…during her final three years, Beal helped lead Dixon High School to a combined 47-29 overall record, a 29-9 conference mark (including a league championship in 2008) and three section playoff appearances.
Personal
Parents are Jimmy Beal and Leslie Sherlin…a civil engineering major…played for the Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC), and the team’s coaching staff included former Hornet Kristi (Lambert) Deter and current Hornet outside hitter Janelle Currey.
