2010 Season
One of two Hornets to start all 32 matches and appear in all 127 sets…has never missed a start or a set during her two-year career thus far…a second all-Big Sky Conference selection after averaging 3.24 kills, 3.47 digs, 3.76 points and 0.43 blocks per set to go along with a .174 hitting percentage…had 20 double-doubles (kills and digs) which were the top mark in the conference…among conference leaders, she ranked fifth in kills, seventh in points and aces (0.28 per set), and 10th in digs…tallied double figures in kills in 22 of 32 matches, and double figures in digs on 25 occasions…named MVP of the Sacramento State Invitational, and all-tournament at the Corvallis Invitational…had 36 aces compared to just 27 service errors…had a season-high 23 kills on three occasions…also had a career-high 30 digs against SMU…among team leaders, she was first in kills, attacks, points, service receptions, second in digs and third in aces…for her career, she already has 797 kills and 870 digs…named to the Big Sky all-academic team for the second straight year.
2009 Season
One of two Hornets to start all 32 matches and appear in all 129 sets…finished her freshman season with averages of 2.98 kills and 3.33 digs per set…her 385 kills and 429 digs both set the Sacramento State Div. I era-record (1991-pres.) for most kills and digs by a freshman outside hitter…had a 2.5-to-1 service ace-to-error ratio (32 aces, 13 errors), easily the best mark on the team…among Big Sky leaders, she ranked second in double-doubles (18), ninth in kills, ninth in digs and 10th in points (3.41 per set)…posted double figures in digs 25 times, including each of the last seven matches…also had 23 matches with double figures in kills…led or tied for the team lead in kills in nine matches…season high of 25 kills came against Santa Clara…posted a season-best 25 digs against UC Davis, and her .429 hitting percentage (10-1-29) against DePaul was a season high…had a service reception percentage of .954, the best mark among Hornets with more than 10 receptions…named to the Big Sky Conference all-academic team.
High School
A 2009 graduate of Rocklin High School…played four years of volleyball for the Thunder…during her senior season, she was the team captain and named the Sierra Foothill League MVP and first team all-Metro after leading Rocklin to a semifinal appearance in the Sac-Joaquin Div. II section playoffs, a league championship and a 31-4 overall record…had 305 kills during her senior year, which was the second best mark in Rocklin High School single-season history…also an all-league selection during her junior season after compiling 180 digs, the second best mark in school single-season history…also in 2007, Currey helped Rocklin High School to a fourth-place finish in the Div. II Northern California playoffs…served as the school’s Junior Class President.
Personal
Born April 6, 1991…majoring in mathematics…daughter of Steve Currey and Jana ten Pas…played for the 17-under Gold Cal Junior Club team in 2008, which placed fifth at the Junior Olympics and was coached by former Sacramento State volleyball player Kristi Lambert Deter.
