SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State freshman setter Lisa Beauchene was
named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the
Hornet volleyball team to a 2-0 record last week while strengthening its
hold atop the Big Sky standings.
The Auburn, Wash., native recorded 12 kills, a .750 hitting percentage, 48
assists, 15 digs, five blocks and two service aces in the two matches. Her
12 kills came without an error in 16 total attacks. Beauchene''s
well-rounded numbers consisted of 2.00 kills, 8.00 assists, 2.50 digs and
0.83 blocks per game.
In Thursday''s win over Montana, Beauchene totaled six kills, a .750 hitting
percentage (six kills, zero errors, eight attacks), 27 assists, nine digs
and four blocks. In Friday''s three-game sweep over Idaho State, Beauchene
matched Thursday''s output in kills (six) and hitting percentage (.750,
6-0-8) while also posting 21 assists and six digs.
Including the two performances last week, Beauchene is now hitting a
season-high .302 which leads the team. Also among team leaders, she ranks
first in assists (983), third in blocks (51), tied for third in aces (15)
and fourth in digs (274).
She has been a major contributor to a Sacramento State team that has won 11
of its past 14 matches and currently sits a season-high eight games over
.500 with an overall record of 18-10. With two matches left in the regular
season, the Hornets, who are currently in first place in the Big Sky
standings with an 11-3 record, will aim for their fourth-consecutive
conference title this week as they travel to second-place Northern Arizona
on Thursday and Cal State Northridge on Saturday. The conference champion
gains the right to host the Big Sky Tournament Nov. 16-18.
