VOLLEYBALL’S NCAA TOURNAMENT MATCH WITH STANFORD MOVED TO SATURDAY

11/30/2006

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Due to inclement weather in the Midwest and Missouri’s inability to travel today, the NCAA has moved the first day of the Stanford volleyball sub-regional back one day to Saturday, Dec. 2.

Sacramento State, which was originally scheduled to play Stanford on Friday at 7 p.m., in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, will now face the Cardinal on Saturday at 7 p.m. Missouri and Santa Clara will play at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both matches will take place at Maples Pavilion on the Stanford campus.

The winner of Saturday’s Stanford/Sacramento State and Santa Clara/Missouri matches will face each other in the second round on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. inside Maples Pavilion.

The Hornets (30-5) are making their ninth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 10 years. Winners of 10 straight Big Sky Conference regular season and/or tournament championships, the Hornets enter the NCAA Tournament with a seven-match winning streak, including victories in 18 of their last 19 matches.

Stanford, which is the No. 2 seed at the tournament, has reached the NCAA Tournament each of the last 26 years, including national championships in 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2001 and 2004.
