SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior Sandra Bandimere tallied her fourth 20-20 match of the season with a match-high 24 kills to go along with 22 digs to lead Sacramento State to a 3-1 (30-22, 30-27, 28-30, 30-20) victory over Montana in a Big Sky Conference volleyball match Thursday evening at the Hornets Nest.

Bandimere, who had 10 kills in the first game alone, also posted a .300 hitting percentage (24-6-60) as the outside hitter led the Hornets in kills for the 21st time this year. Hornet freshman Lindsay Haupt had 14 kills, two blocks and a match-best .458 hitting percentage. Haupt, who raised her season hitting percentage to .331, is hitting .500 (39-5-68) over her last four matches.

With the victory, Sacramento State won for the eighth time in its last nine matches while improving to 19-6 overall and 7-2 in the Big Sky. The Hornets, who are also 10-1 at home this season, moved into second place in the conference standings as Montana State (7-3) lost at Northern Arizona tonight. Eastern Washington, which remains in first place with a 7-1 conference record, travels to Idaho State on Friday and Weber State on Saturday. The Hornets will host Montana State this Saturday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.

The win also gave Sacramento State the series sweep over Montana this season as the Hornets defeated the Grizzlies in three games on Oct. 2. The Hornets have defeated Montana on 10-straight occasions and own a 17-4 record in the all-time series. Sacramento State has also won 37-straight regular-season matches against conference competition inside the Hornets Nest. Entering the contest, all nine of the Hornets’ victories at home had come in a three-game sweep prior to tonight’s four-game win.

The Hornets had 15 more kills than Montana (74-59) and limited the Grizzlies to a .170 hitting percentage. Sacramento State had four players with at least 14 digs, comprised of Bandimere, junior Mallory Hook (season-high 23), sophomore Atlee Hubbard (17) and senior Stephanie Gamst (14). Hubbard also had 10 kills to complete her seventh double-double of the season. Senior Emily Wilson rounded out the Hornet foursome with double figures in kills as the middle hitter had 10 to go along with a team-high six blocks.

Gamst also had five kills and 58 assists, her third-highest total for assists this season. Junior Shannon Arts added seven kills and five blocks as the Hornet finished with 10 team blocks. Sacramento State had nine service aces, including a season-high four from senior Jackie Coudert as all four came during a stretch of five points midway through the fourth game. Wilson added three aces to tie a season high.

Montana, which had two more digs than Sacramento State (91-89), had five players with double figures, comprised of Jackie White (match-high 29), Claudia Houle (21), Shelley Boyd (12), Micaela Parker (11) and Diana Thompson (11). Houle led all Grizzlies with 16 kills.

After Saturday night’s match against Montana State, the Hornets have just two remaining home contests on the schedule (Nov. 11 vs. Idaho State; Nov. 13 vs. Weber State). The Hornets, who have just four matches remaining on the schedule, also play at Eastern Washington (Nov. 4) and Portland State (Nov. 6).
