“We could not have pulled this off without the collaborative effort of each group."
"We are extremely delighted to secure a prestigious championship like the volleyball finals,” Sacramento Sports Commission chairwoman JoAnne Byers said. “This shows our tremendous partnership with Sacramento State, ARCO Arena and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. We plan to put all our energies into the event."
A group consisting of Colberg, Byers, Sacramento Sports Commission Executive Director John McCasey, Vice President of Arco Arena Programming Mike Duncan, and President & CEO of the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau Steve Hammond made the presentation to the NCAA in early February in Sarasota, Fla.

“"This region has shown it can support major sporting events,” McCasey said. “Whether it’s the Kings, Monarchs, RiverCats or NCAA basketball, we have always had a good showing."
The attendance record over the two-day championship is held by Wisconsin in 1998 (25,521). Last season’s championship in San Diego drew just over 20,000. The seating capacity at Arco Arena is 17,317.
