SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State's Tatsiana Kapshai was named the Big Sky Conference's Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Kapshai swept her competition over the weekend as the No. 50 ranked Hornets defeated Nevada, 5-2, on Friday and then-No. 40 ranked Saint Mary’s, 4-3, on Sunday. The junior from Minsk, Belarus played at No. 1 singles and doubles in both matches.
Against Nevada, Kapshai knocked off Emma Verbane 6-3, 6-1 after pairing with Rebeca Delgado to win 8-3 in doubles play.
In an upset victory over Saint Mary’s, Kapshai tallied a point for the Hornets in a narrow dual match win. The No. 77 ranked Kapshai defeated No. 85 Alex Poorta 7-6 (4), 6-1. Kapshai teammed up with Delgado, again, for a win at No. 1 doubles.
