Former Hornet Atlee Hubbard, who was just named head coach at Menlo College, finished her career with 1,273 kills and 1,223 digs

ATHERTON, Calif. -- Former Sacramento State volleyball player Atlee Hubbard was named head women's volleyball coach at Menlo College, it was announced on Monday. Menlo College is an NAIA school located in Atherton, Calif.

Hubbard, who played for the Hornets from 2004-06, will assume her first career collegiate head coaching job after spending the past two seaasons as the head varsity coach at Menlo High School. 

A two-time first team all-Big Sky Conference selection, she was also named Big Sky all-tournament every year of her Sacramento State career after transferring from Rhode Island. The Menlo Park, Calif., native is one of just two Hornet outside hitters in school history to garner first team all-Big Sky accolades multiple times. The program joined the conference in 1996.

Sacramento State won the Big Sky Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament all three years of Hubbard's career while combining to post an 81-23 overall record and a 39-5 mark in the conference. She never missed a match during her Hornet career, finishing with 1,273 kills and 1,223 digs to become one of just 12 Sacramento State players to join the 1,000 kills/1,000 digs club since 1985. Her career average of 3.52 kills per set remains the fifth best mark in school history, and she also finished with an average of 3.38 digs per set.

After her collegiate career, Hubbard played volleyball professionally overseas in Spain and Indonesia. She also played recently for the Northern California Volleyball Association's Dream Team, which was a member of the inaugural USA Volleyball Premier League in 2012.

Hubbard has over six years of coaching experience at various levels. This past fall, she led Menlo High School to a West Bay Athletic League co-championship and a semifinal round appearance in the Central Coast Section Div. IV playoffs.
