Katharina Knoebl won at No. 5 singles but the Hornets lost to the Huskies.
SEATTLE, Wash. -Katharina Knoebl won at No. 5 singles but the No. 49 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team lost, 6-1, at No. 28 Washington on Friday afternoon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
This match was a reshceduled dual after an earlier match was canceled due to poor weather in the Seattle area.
Clarisse Baca and Maria Meliuk won their No. 2 doubles match but the Huskies won at Nos. 1 and 3 to earn the doubles point. Washington then went on to win 5-of-6 singles matches but Knoebl put the Hornets on the board.
Knoebl dropped the first set, 4-6, but was able to win the second set and a grueling, 16-14, tiebreaker.
The previous seven meetings between the Hornets and Huskies were decided by 4-3 scores.
The Hornets will remain in the Evergreen State for a match tomorrow at Washington State.
