TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 48 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team lost, 6-1, to No. 45 Texas Tech on Sunday morning in the consolation match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend at Arizona State's Whiteman Tennis Center.
The Hornets (0-2) lost to USC in the opening round while Texas Tech was knocked off by the host Sun Devils.
Sacramento State lost the doubles point to open the match and claimed just one singles match. Senior Tatsiana Kapshai, the two-time reigning Big Sky Conference player of the year, won her No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, but the Red Raiders claimed the remainder of the singles matches.
Up next for the women's tennis team is its first home match of the season. The Hornets play host to Fresno State on Feb. 4 at Rio Del Oro RC.
