WOMEN'S TENNIS EXCELS AT SAINT MARY'S INVITE

Sophie Lohscheidt advanced to the finals in both singles and doubles at the SMC Invite.
The Saint Mary's Invitational featured three levels of singles play (Red, Blue and White) and two levels of doubles play (Red, White).
Clarisse Baca, Rebeca Delgado and Maria Meliuk all competed in the top Red singles bracket. Baca advanced to the quarterfinals before losing while Delgado avenged a round of 32 loss by winning the consolation title. Meliuk lost in the round of 32.
Sophie Lohscheidt had a phenomenal run in the White singles bracket. The sophomore won four matches before falling in the championship match to California's Alice Duranteau. She knocked off the No. 1 seed in the bracket - UC Davis's Nicole Koehly - in the semifinals en route to the title match.
The Hornets did not have any participants in the Blue singles bracket.
Sacramento State continued its strong play in the Red doubles bracket. Baca and Meliuk were the No. 1 seed in the bracket while Delgado and Lohscheidt were not seeded but both teams advanced to the semifinals before losing to teams from Saint Mary's The most impressive win was Delgado and Lohscheidt upsetting the No. 3 seeded pairing of Cessi Estlander and Zsofi Susanyi from California, 8-4, in the quarterfinals.
