WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS PORTLAND STATE, 7-0; WINS 10TH STRAIGHT BIG SKY REGULAR SEASON TITLE

The Sacramento State women's tennis team has been dominate in league play for a decade.

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Sacramento State women's tennis team clinched its 10th straight Big Sky Conference title with a 7-0 win at Portland State on Friday afternoon. The No. 48 ranked Hornets swept through the conference in 2011, with an 8-0 dual match record.

The Hornets have now won a ridiculous 80 straight league matches, including both regular season and conference tournament duals.

Sacramento State improves to 16-8 (8-0 Big Sky) with the win while Portland State slides to 4-12 (1-5) with the loss.

It was the final conference match of the season for the Hornets, as they close out the regular season on Sunday at Oregon. The Big Sky Conference Tournament begins April 23 at Montana State.

The Hornets took 2-of-3 doubles matches against Portland State and cruised through singles with seven straight-set wins.

Maria Meliuk won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 while Rebeca Delgado was also nearly perfect with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Clarisse Baca is 9-1 in her last 10 matches after a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Baca has a team-best 17 dual match singles wins and has combined with Delgado for a team-best 18-4 doubles mark.

Sophie Lohscheidt is also 9-1 in her last 10 matches after a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5. A total of six Hornets are on three-match or better winning streaks.
