Tatsiana Kapshai, ranked No. 77 in the nation, won at both No. 1 singles and doubles vs. Nevada.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The No. 49 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team was victorious in its first home dual of the season, defeating Nevada, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
The Hornets improved to 2-1 on the season while Nevada fell to 1-2.
The Hornets quickly siezed the doubles point with dominating performances by Rebeca Delgado and Tatsiana Kapshai at No. 1 plus Maria Meliuk and Clarisse Baca at No. 2. Meliuk and Baca blanked Gabriela Eufrasio and Aodhnait Lombard, 8-0.
In singles play, No. 77 ranked Kapshai, Baca, Sophie Lohscheidt and Katharina Knoebl were all victorious. Lohscheidt, a freshman, earned her first collegiate win while Baca improved to 2-0 on the young season.
Sacramento State will battle No. 40 ranked Saint Mary's at 1 p.m. on Sunday, also at Rio Del Oro R.C.
