WOMEN'S TENNIS FARES WELL AT SAINT MARY'S INVITATIONAL

MORAGA, Calif.- The Sacramento State women’s tennis team sent four players this past weekend to compete at the Saint Mary’s Invitational in Moraga.
Senior Milica Zivanovic was the standout for the Hornets in singles action, defeating opponents from Gonzaga and UC Davis to advance to the final round of the Blue singles flight. After a close final set, Zivanovic defeated San Francisco's Blair Reed 6-3, 7-6(3) to win the entire flight.
Freshman Katharina Knoebl also had a good day in singles competition in the White singles flight. Knoebl advanced to the semifinals of the flight before falling to Lauren Curry from UC Davis in a close 7-6 (3), 6-4 outcome.
The Hornets fared well in doubles action as well, with the duo of Zivanovic and freshman Sophie Lohscheidt winning the White Doubles flight after defeating Washington’s No. 4 Lina Xu and Vanja Radunovic, 8-6, in the final. Freshman Alina Savchuk and Knoebl paired to advance to the semifinal round of the Red Doubles consolation flight before falling to Stanford’s Natalie Dillon and Nicole Gibbs in an 8-4 loss.
The Hornets will conclude their fall season at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships held at Stanford University on Oct. 22-26.
