NO. 53 WOMEN'S TENNIS HAS NO TROUBLE WITH FELLOW FIRST PLACE FOE EASTERN WASHINGTON, WINS 7-0

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - In a battle of the two teams tied atop the Big Sky standings, the No. 53 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team had little trouble with the previously unbeaten in Big Sky play Eastern Washington Eagles, winning 7-0 on Wednesday, March 24.
With the victory, the Hornets improve to 12-5, 4-0 in Big Sky play, while the Eagles fall to 9-7, 4-1 in conference action. Sacramento State has now won 66 straight matches against Big Sky competition.
In singles action, Delgado started the Hornets off on the right foot, taking home a 6-0, 6-0 victory of Marie Demerath at No. 2 singles. Nazarova then posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Rocio Norena at the No. 6 position, and Kapshai cemented the Hornet win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Caitlin Bampton at the No. 1 position. The reigning Big Sky Player of the Week Baca survived a first set scare from Judy Liening at No. 3 before posting a 7-5, 6-1 victory. Zivanovic then defeated Chelsea Patton by a score of 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6, and freshman Gayane Sarkisian finished the match with a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Ryann Warner at No. 5 singles to complete the Hornet sweep.
The Hornets continue their five match home stand with a match against Fresno State on Friday afternoon. First serve of doubles is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
