STREAK MOVES TO 65 STRAIGHT IN BIG SKY PLAY AS WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS MONTANA STATE 6-1

BOZEMAN, Mont. - The No. 45 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team defeated the Montana State Bobcats by a score of 6-1, marking their 65th straight victory over Big Sky competition, on Sunday, March 21.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 11-5, 3-0 in Big Sky play.
The Hornets opened the match by sweeping the doubles point, as sophomores Clarisse Baca and Tatsiana Kapshai were victorious at No. 1 doubles over Ali Griffin and Laura Villegas by a score of 8-4. Freshman Zalina Nazarova and junior Milica Zivanovic defeated Charlotta Hjalmarrson and Lucy Fairbotham in No. 3 doubles action 8-4, and sophomore Maria Meliuk and senior Aileen Tsan closed out doubles play with an 8-5 victory over Jennifer Coll and Andrea De La Torre at the No. 2 spot in the order.
Sacramento State won five of the six singles matches contested, with Baca collecting her fifth straight victory with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Hjalmarrson at No. 3 singles.Kapshai followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Griffin at the No. 1 position, and following a loss at No. 4, Meliuk posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Villegas to give the Hornets the victory. The match closed out with freshman Gayene Sarkisian posting a 6-0, 6-1 win over Fairbotham at No. 6 singles and Nazarova pulling out a 6-0, 6-1 win over Coll at No. 5.
The Hornets return to action on Wednesday, March 24 as they host the Eastern Washington Eagles. First serve of doubles is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
