NO. 46 WOMEN'S TENNIS TAKES CARE OF BUSINESS AGAINST HAWAI'I, 4-2

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The No. 46 ranked Sacramento State women's tennis team defeated the visiting Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine by a score of 4-2 on Tue., Feb. 23 at the Spare Time Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Hornets improve to 6-3 on the season, while the Rainbow Wahine fall to 1-6. Sacramento State also improves to 6-0 in matches against teams ranked outside of the top 20, having fallen only to No. 3 California, No. 14 Stanford, and No. 19 Washington.
In a shortened match that was moved indoors and only had singles contested, Sacramento State took the first three matches to finish to take a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Clarisse Baca posted the first Hornet victory, defeating Natasha Zorec of Hawai'i at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-1, 7-6. Senior Aileen Tsan increased the lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Natasha Zorec at No. 5 singles. The third straight win came at No. 3 singles, with freshman Rebeca Delgado collecting a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Katarina Poljakova.
The Rainbow Wahine then pulled the match to 3-1, as Aglae Van den Bergh of Hawai'i defeated freshman Zalina Nazarova at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-4. The Hornets then closed out the match at the No. 1 position, as senior Katrina Zheltova, ranked No. 46 in the nation in singles, rebounded from a rough start to defeat Barbara Pinterova 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. The match closed with Sophie Kobuch of the Rainbow Wahine defeating sophomore Tatsiana Kapshai at No. 2 singles, 7-6, 3-6, 7-5.
Tsan and Zheltova each extended their respective singles winning streaks to four matches, with Zheltova improving to 7-2 on the season.
Sacramento State heads on to road to take on three ranked teams this weekend in Southern California. The Hornets play No. 56 UC Irvine on Friday, No. 65 San Diego State on Saturday and No. 60 San Diego on Sunday.
