WOMEN’S TENNIS DOMINANCE IN THE BIG SKY CONTINUES WITH 7-0 VICTORY OVER MONTANA

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- All six Sacramento State singles players won in straight sets as the Hornets defeated Montana, 7-0, in a Big Sky Conference women’s tennis match Saturday afternoon at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
With the victory, Sacramento State improved to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the Big Sky. The Hornets have now won 37 straight matches against Big Sky competition, a streak which dates back to 2002. With the loss, Montana dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
The Hornets’ also received doubles victories from the tandems of Zheltova/Helland (No. 1), Martinez/Jarlkaganova (No. 2) and Tsan/Lyssenko (No. 3). Sacramento State has now won the doubles point each of the last eight matches.
In singles play, Helland improved her record to a team-best 12-1, and Zheltova improved to 11-2.
Sacramento State returns to action on Thursday, March 22, as the team hosts Big Sky newcomer Northern Colorado at 2 p.m.
