SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento State won all three doubles matches, and was victorious in straight sets in all six singles matches on the way to a 7-0 victory over Montana State in a Big Sky Conference women’s tennis match Saturday morning at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
The victory gave the Hornets their 35th consecutive win over a Big Sky opponent, a streak which dates back to 2002. Winners of each of the last five Big Sky championships, Sacramento State improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 against the Big Sky this season.
This morning’s match was the first of two for Sacramento State, as the team travels to UC Davis for a contest at 2 p.m.
Already a two-time Big Sky Player of the Week, Zheltova has now won five straight singles matches at No. 1 (all in straight sets), after a narrow, season-opening defeat to the defending singles national champion (Cal’s Susie Babos).
