WOMEN'S TENNIS LOSES CLOSE MATCH AT PACIFIC 4-3

Stockton, Calif. - The Sacramento State women''s tennis dropped a close match to Pacific, 4-3 on Friday afternoon

With the win the Tigers moved to 6-3 on the season, while the Hornets

fell to 2-3 overall.

Pacific’s freshman Clara Schuhmacher claimed the decisive point

for the Tigers as she defeated Sacramento State''s Anastassia Lyssenko,

6-4, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot. Schuhmacher also teammed with sophomore

Helen Schneider to claim the No. 3 doubles spot over

Cecilia Helland and Svetlana Pimenova, 8-6. The doubles victory earned

the Tigers the doubles point.

In the No. 1 singles spot, Sacrametno State’s Margarita Karnaukhova defeated Vana Mrazovic (7-5, 6-3), while freshman Karina Jarklaganova also earned a win at the No. 4 spot for the Hornets, defeating Carla Tamborini (6-3, 6-0).

Pimenova also picked up a win for Sacramento State at the No. 6 spot, defeating Helen Schneider (6-2, 6-1).

The Hornets next match will be their Big Sky conference opener, Saturday, Mar. 4 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
