CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Sacramento State women''s tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 6-1 to Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass.Margarita Karnaukhova was defeated by the Eagles Szilvia Szegedi in the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Boston College’s Dasha Cherkasov handled freshman Luba Schifris 6-1,6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
Sacramento State is now 1-1 while the Eagles remain undefeated at 4-0.
Boston College’s Lana Krasnopolsky defeated freshman Anastassia Lyssenko 7-6, 6-1 and Alina Sullivan defeated freshman Karina Jarlkaganova at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Junior Lindsey Nash picked up the fifth win for the Eagles, beating Svetlana Pimenova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Cecilia Helland picked up the only victory for the Hornets at No. 5, defeating Sarah Svoboda, 6-1, 6-3.
Boston College’s doubles tandems of Krasnopolsky and Cherkasov, and Szegedi and Sullivan won 8-6 to earn the point and give the Eagles a 6-1 win.
Sacramento State will next play Harvard on Saturday.
