KAPSHAI FALLS IN 2ND ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

Tatsiana Kapshai advanced to the second round of the tournament in her first ever appearance.

STANFORD, Calif. - Sacramento State's Tatsiana Kapshai was defeated by Arizona State's No. 12 ranked Jacqueline Cako in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships on Thursday afternoon at Stanford's Taube Family Stadium.

Cako jumped out early in the first set but it was the No. 102 ranked Kapshai who held a 2-1 lead in the second set and was up 30-love in the fourth game before Cako rallied to win the match 6-2, 6-2.

Kapshai earned her second round match by defeating Florida International's No. 62 ranked Liset Brito in the first round, 6-4, 6-3.

Kapshai ends her junior season with a 12-10 record  after missing the middle of the season due to injury. The two-time Big Sky Conference MVP will return next season along with five other starters to defend the Hornets' unbelievable 10-consecutive regular season and tournament titles.
