AILEEN TSAN NAMED BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah - Sacramento State women's tennis player Aileen Tsan was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 2.
Tsan, a senior from Sarawak, Malaysia, went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles, helping the 47th-ranked Hornets to a pair of 4-3 victories over No. 56 UC Irvine and No. 60 San Diego. Tsan, playing No. 6 singles, defeated UC Irvine’s Hannah Holladay 6-0, 6-1, securing the second point in the Hornet win. Tsan helped the Hornets inact revenge against the Toreros, defeating San Diego’s Marite Raygada 6-3, 6-1. The Hornets avenged a 7-0 loss to San Diego from last season.
Tsan and doubles partner Maria Meliuk also went unbeaten during the weekend, winning their No. 3 doubles matches against UC Irvine (8-3) and San Diego (8-4).
The two victories for Tsan in singles allowed her to run her winning streak to six straight matches. She earned the conference's weekly honor for the first time in her career, and the Hornets had a player earn the award for the third time this season.
Sacramento State returns to action on Sunday, March 7 as they host the Saint Mary's Gaels at 1 p.m.
