ZHELTOVA TABBED BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR NINTH TIME IN CAREER

OGDEN, Utah - Sacramento State senior Katrina Zheltova has been named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Feb. 25.
Zheltova, a senior from Minsk, Belarus, upset the No. 4 player in the nation, downing Washington’s Denise Dy 6-1, 6-3 in Seattle on Saturday. Zheltova, ranked 46th in the nation, came back on Sunday and beat No. 61 Liudmila Vasilieva of Washington State 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. On Tuesday at home, Zheltova beat Hawai’i's Barbara Pinterova.
The 46th-ranked Hornets went 2-1 during the week, beating Hawai’i and Washington State, and losing 4-3 to No. 19 Washington. Zheltova, a three-time Big Sky MVP, has won four straight matches and is 7-2 at the No. 1 singles position this season. Zheltova and partner Clarisse Baca went 1-1 at No. 1 doubles, posting an 8-4 victory against Washington State, and falling 8-4 to the No. 6 ranked team from Washington.
Zheltova earned Big Sky weekly honors for the ninth time, and second this season.
Sacramento State heads on to road to take on three ranked teams this weekend in Southern California. The Hornets play No. 56 UC Irvine on Friday, No. 65 San Diego State on Saturday and No. 60 San Diego on Sunday.
