TODAY’S BIG SKY TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE PUSHED BACK TWO HOURS BECAUSE OF RAIN

4/24/2009

GOLD RIVER, Calif. -- Today’s start time for the quarterfinal rounds of the Big Sky Conference Men’s and Women’s Tennis Tournament has been pushed back two hours because of rain that hit the Sacramento area overnight and early this morning.

The men’s quarterfinal round, originally scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. this morning, will now start at noon. As soon as the men’s quarterfinal matches conclude, the women’s quarterfinal round will immediately begin. The women were originally scheduled to play at 2 p.m., but will likely start at least an hour after that original start time.

No more rain is expected the remainder of today, and none is expected over the weekend when the semifinal rounds take place Saturday and the championship match on Sunday.

Men’s quarterfinal matches include No. 3 seed Northern Arizona taking on No. 6 Montana, and No. 4 Weber State facing No. 5 Montana State. Today’s women’s quarterfinal matches feature No. 3 Northern Arizona against No. 6 Montana, and No. 4 Northern Colorado taking on No. 5 Eastern Washington. Sacramento State’s men’s and women’s teams each received a bye in the quarters by virtue of owning the No. 1 seeds and will begin play tomorrow.

Men’s semifinal matches on Saturday will take place at 10 a.m., and the women will begin at 2 p.m. The men’s championship match on Sunday will begin at 10 a.m., and the women at 2 p.m.
